This year has been a wild yet fun ride so far. We’ve uprooted from our sort of temporary (almost a year) residence and are slow-traveling up the west coast staying with family and friends. One of the reasons I began my life as a web designer and developer was to have the freedom to work from anywhere in the world I happen to be. I’m now literally doing that and it is amazing, albeit challenging at times. At first it was difficult to keep my head in the right place and keep my focus where it needed to be everyday. I had no problem with creating a routine in my own space. I started the day with a work-out or yoga, on to shower, green smoothie + breakfast then on to work (in my own little office). This is challenging to say the least when you are working out things like where your toothbrush is or how other people like to do their dishes.
My point is that it has led me to do even more editing in my life than I have before. It’s a forced cleansing that I’m carrying into how I spend my time on my business, my clients, and down to what subscriptions I receive in my inbox. That was the biggest one, I’ve been on an unsubscribing streak for weeks now and it feels so good. As freelancers or self-employed individuals, it’s easy to get bogged down with all the information that is being marketed to us. I had been hanging on to so many that really didn’t speak to me on the deep level I was looking for. When I realized this, they were gone. Man, it feels good!

Being a true curator of your business and life means cutting away the fat so you can only see the good stuff. I welcome you to apply this to your workspace, your current project, or your life.
Not sure which products to have in your shop? Only keep the ones that really stir your soul.
Struggling to get through a book you really “should read” but just can’t find the time? Move on to the next one that you’re really excited about.
Tired of getting so many emails from those subscriptions you never open? Unsubscribe. Unsubscribe, Unsubscribe from those babies.
After going through this process a few times hardcore, you will eventually do it as a habit. Having the freedom to craft our own life is only worth it when we get out of our own way and live in a way that nourishes us. Give it a try, starting today.
On a side note: You may have noticed that I keep talking about revamping my website and am changing focus a bit. I really want to spend my time primarily helping creative artisans who are making truly remarkable things get an online presence they can be proud of. This came to me as I realized, “Wait, I AM one of these people”. I’ve been a creator, artist, maker, and crafter as long as I can remember and this is what really gets me going. I also happen to have a need to organize everything into systems, and I feel this is the best offering I can make to the creative set. So stay tuned for a new site, packages, free gifts and content that are geared directly to these peeps! If you are one, great! Sign up for the newsletter below so you don’t miss a beat, and if you know someone, pass this on to them.
